Sawston Fun Run 2025 raises record funds for charity

It was a fabulous morning of community spirit, sunshine (a very sunny 22 degrees!), and an ice cream or two at this year’s Sawston Fun Run & Walk.

After an introduction from Jonathan Russell, VP Sawston Village College (SVC), Unity Campus Community Engagement Manager Jess gave a short welcome highlighting how proud the Campus was to sponsor such an amazing fundraising event (it is the largest community event in the area). She thanked SVC, the Rotary Club, the volunteers, and those taking part and fundraising.

Members of the Howard Group team and their families volunteered on the finish line, helped at the main stage, judged the fancy dress competition, presented the winners’ trophies, and staffed the Unity Campus stall. Our face painter worked her creative magic on 55 children.

With 1,752 runners and £14,000 raised, this year’s Sawston Fun Run was the most successful ever, bringing the total raised for charities since 1986 to an amazing £570,000!

The Unity Campus team also had the pleasure of attending the Sawston Fun Run Beneficiaries event at Sawston Village College. We were proud to be there representing the Campus and its developer Howard Group, as joint headline sponsors and watched as Katherine Friend, Director – Investment and Asset Management, Howard Group, gave a short speech before presenting donation cheques to 24 local charities.

Fun run organisers Ian Chamberlain and Gerry Holloway gave heartfelt speeches thanking the incredible team of volunteers and committee members behind this much-loved local tradition.

A huge well done to everyone involved in making this event such a meaningful part of the local community and raising funds for local charities.

Save the date: The 40th anniversary of the Sawston Fun Run will take place on Sunday 10th May 2026. More info here: https://sawstonfunrun.co.uk/
